Special Interest Group (SIG)
A SIG may be organized by three or more regular members to study a particular subject related to telemedicine and telecare. SIGs may be eligible to receive some financial aid. Four SIGs organized in 2012 are currently active.

Aim
We aim to study the benefits and disadvantages for users of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in order to build an environment to enable patients and residents in communities to access information safely and effectively.
Tele-medical Interpretation SIG

Objectives
Based on Multilingual Medical Questionnaires, MMQ we aim to develop Tele-medical interpretating systems to utilize bilingual human resources nation-wide as well as in international arena through experimental projects with ICT, Information and Communication Technology.
We also aim to develop a system for emergency situations such as natural disasters.
Activities for 2012:
We will develop and test such systems as “Health Life Planning Notebook” and “Health Life Passport” from the users’ viewpoints. We also plan to establish a calling center for experimental Video-interpretation in medical settings.

Home Telecare SIG

Goal
We study the home telecare using ICT, not only technology but also human and social connection system. Our aim is establish and spread the home telecare.
We will investigate the existing home telecare using ICT and discuss about the future home Telecare in 2012.
